Name Change for National Organization
Canadian Inline Hockey Association (CIHA) announced today a name change for the National organization would commence immediately for the 2001 inline season. The organization has been renamed the Canadian Inline Hockey Association (CIHA). More...
This is strictly a marketing initiative to provide more consistency with other National sport organizations that are involved with other forms of hockey in Canada (Canadian Ball Hockey Association, Canadian Electric Wheelchair Hockey Association, Canadian Sledge Hockey Association, and Canadian Adult Recreational Hockey Association). Our objective is to distinguish CIHA from all other hockey organizations in Canada, including the Canadian Hockey Association.
CIHA believed it was in the best interest to make the name change before players began play for this season. It is imperative to provide major exposure for the name and logo during the inline hockey season, rather than waiting until next fall to make the change when everything was beginning to slow for the year.
Canadian Inline Hockey Association (CIHA) is based out of Chatham, Ontario. As a National organization for inline hockey, CIHA is dedicated solely to the development of inline hockey through community-based inline hockey programs across the country. CIHA provides administration, events, development programs, marketing, player insurance, Provincial and National Championships for all registered players, coaches and officials.
CIHA has a partnership agreement with Roller Sports Canada to accept the lead role with regards to the 2003 Pan Am Games and the National Inline Team to represent Canada. This initiative along with the continued development of the community based grassroots inline hockey leagues, programs and events, distinguishes CIHA as the inline hockey leader in Canada.
