CHATHAM, Ontario, Canada – As a High
Performance Program operated by the
Canadian Inline Hockey Association
(CIHA), the Great Lakes Inline Jr A
League announces today the annual
Early Bird Tournament has be set for
Saturday, April 26,2003. The Oakville
Coyotes will host the one-day
tournament at the Oakville Memorial
Arena.
The “GLi Early Bird” is the pre-season
event in which all the GLi Jr A teams
make decisions on final player
selection for the upcoming inline
season. It provides an opportunity for
each team to make final evaluations of
the remaining prospects still in camp.
Each team will play two exhibition
games throughout the day with a
variety of team rosters.
The Great Lakes Inline Jr A League
provided three young players to Team
Canada’s, Gold Medal World
Championship Men’s National team in
2003. Jay Allen and Ben Frank of the
Toronto Tigers, Brett Leggat of the
Hamilton Power and Bill Boyes of the
2002 London Fury.
The GLi has become the Premier Junior
league for inline hockey in the World.
The eleven-team league plays an 80
game schedule throughout May, June and
July.
The Hamilton Power is the 2002 League
Champions and will be challenged by
all teams to retain the title.
